A famous temple in suburban Shanghai caught fire in the afternoon with no causalities reported.

The fire broke out at Eryan Temple, one of the top 10 tourist attractions in Fengxian District, around 1:26 pm, when it was holding a New Year prayer event. The fire started at candlesticks on second floor of its Jade Buddha Building, according to xinmin.cn.

Firefighters arrived with 12 fire engines at 1:32pm and extinguished the fire in 10 minutes.

No casualty was reported while the cause of the fire is underway.

The Eryan Temple was originally built during Yuan Dynasty (AD1271-1368) and relocated to the current address in 1993.

It attracts about 180,000 visitors a year.
