Hongqiao Medical Park under construction

TWO high-end international hospitals will rise up in the New Hongqiao International Medical Park in the city's western Minhang District. Their construction kicked off today.
The park's first-phase development covers 42 hectares of land and will be completed in 2015. The two general hospitals will serve both Chinese and expatriates who want high-end medical services.
The park will also have a medical technology center to handle all diagnostic scans and tests in the park, special hospitals for plastic surgery, gynecology and pediatrics, as well as shopping and public facilities.
Minhang District Health Bureau said the two international hospitals will be joint ventures managed by international hospital groups. Wholly foreign-owned hospitals will be introduced in the second-phase development as the city opens up its health market.
