Hospital attack wounds 6 Shanghai doctors

Doctors of a hospital in the city's Yangpu District were assaulted yesterday morning by a group of people over a medical dispute, police said today.
At least six doctors in the cardiothoracic surgery department of Xinhua Hospital were injured in the attack, including an associate chief surgeon who was stabbed in the chest and was seriously wounded, the hospital said.
The doctor, who was not identified, was in stable condition this afternoon.
One of the attackers surnamed Liu had been detained by police for intentional injury. The other five were caught and will face administrative penalties, said the district police.
The incident happened at about 10am yesterday when the six attackers rushed to the 8th floor of the outpatient building at 1665 Kongjiang Road and hit the doctors in the cardiothoracic surgery department. The associate chief surgeon was stabbed in the chest and the cut was very close to his heart. He was rushed to the intensive care unit and received emergency treatment.
Police is still investigating the case this afternoon.
