Hospital group established

TONGJI Hospital today announced the establishment of a hospital group with 34 medical facilities, including those from Shanghai and other provinces, state-owned and private hospitals and facilities with different specialties like clinical treatment, rehabilitation and health care.
Dr Cheng Liming, president of Tongji Hospital, said hospital group is a new thing in line with the health development and the government’s request to boost hospital growth while better meeting patients’ medical demand.
“Medical capabilities in different regions and hospitals are different. One hospital group is led by a leading state-owned hospital, which set up a unified rule to regulate the medical practice and skill standard in all hospitals in the group,” Cheng said. “People needn’t go all the way to a leading hospital in Shanghai, as they can receive a same quality service at a local hospital within the group.”
Hospital group also streamlines a classified health system, as patients can enjoy green channel and transfer between different levels of hospitals concerning their own conditions. The leading public hospital focuses on complicated diseases and does research, while grassroots hospitals focus more on people’s health management and rehabilitation, he said.
