Houses escape flooding

THERE were no reports on household flooding after the downpour which hit the city from Sunday night, officials at the Shanghai Water Authority said yesterday.
However, Zhang Jianming, a director of the city's dyke and sluice administration, said 291 weak points along 600 kilometers of dams had been identified. But most were far from residential areas and were being taken care of.
