'Ice' man gets 7 years on ice

A MAN who took his girlfriend hostage to keep the police at bay after a traffic accident was sentenced to seven years in prison yesterday for kidnapping.
Zhao Xiaofei, a 30-year-old local, told Zhabei District People's Court that he had taken "ice," a kind of drug, before the traffic accident. Afraid of being discovered by police, he tried to blackmail them into leaving by threatening his girlfriend. The woman surnamed Ding was hurt on the left thigh and got a few scratches on the neck.
