A DRIVER whose truck overturned while trying to unload construction waste in the Pudong New Area has been detained for illegal dumping, Pudong Police said yesterday. The vehicle was found overturned at Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park, near the crossroads of Jinke Road and Cuibai Road, by a resident at about 6:30am last Friday. Officers found the driver, surnamed Ma, had taken 15 tons of waste from Puxi to Pudong. However, the truck overturned as it was overloaded. Although Ma insisted that fatigue had caused him to overturn his vehicle, police said evidence indicated that he was about to dump the waste material.
