Infant from Dubai cured of heart disease
A 2-month-old girl born in Dubai with a congenital heart disease was discharged from the Shanghai Children's Medical Center today after a successful surgery.
The girl whose parents are both Chinese was sent to the hospital early this month after doctors in Dubai failed to treat her disease.
The baby was very weak and was suffering from a complex heart disease and lung infection. Without a surgery, she would die very soon, said Xia Lin, an official at the Shanghai hospital.
The girl received a surgery two weeks ago. "The operation went smoothly. The girl was removed from a respirator five days after the surgery and recovered very quickly. She has grown from 2.25 kilograms to 3.3 kilograms and will grow up like a healthy child," Xia said.
