Inquiry over lake park knife death

CITY police are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in a park with a knife protruding from her stomach.
Officers are yet to confirm whether it is a murder case, Zhabei District police said yesterday.
About 12:15pm on Friday, two children found the body lying on the side of a stone path by a lake, according to staff of Daning Lingshi Park on Guangzhong Road W.
"At first we thought she had an abortion as there was blood all over her lower body and on a large section of the path," said a park staff member.
They later found a knife with a black handle sticking out of her stomach and called police.
Video surveillance cameras showed that the woman came to the park alone, according to security guards at the entrance.
A manager of a wharf nearby, surnamed Zha, who was at scene when the corpse was found, said the woman was probably stabbed while sitting on a nearby bench.
"We found blood on the bench, a book and her bag," Zha said.
"She might have been stabbed while reading on the bench and then crawled along the stone path."
