Institute for Chinese Finance Research to be established in city

AN Institute for Chinese Finance Research will be established next month by East China Normal University and Development Research Center of Shanghai Government, the university announced over the weekend at the the 15th China Economics Annual Conference.

The new institute will serve as a think tank to help Shanghai build itself into a global financial center and international innovation center for science and technology, said Wang Rongming, vice president of East China Normal University.

It will monitor financial operation in the city and provide consultation for government to make policies, Wang said.

It will also serve as an in-service education center for cultivating postgraduates in finance.

Both the school and the research center will invest one million yuan annually in the following five years to build up and operate the institute and will decide new development plan after that.
