Japan offers plush facilities
TALK about refreshing: The touted "World's No.1 toilet" inside the Expo Japanese Corporate Pavilion will make users feel as relaxed as in a living room, designers said yesterday.
The luxury toilets, featuring aromatic odors and 24-hour cleaning, will be available for about half of the pavilion's visitors. There will be a limit to capacity, said Sakaiya Taichi, comprehensive producer of the Japan Industry Pavilion.
The pavilion, built with recyclable materials, is being renovated from an old workshop of the Jiangnan Shipyard on the Puxi side of the Expo site.
Officials will let 70 people enter the pavilion every four minutes. Robots will entertain those in line by climbing the outer walls of the three-story building.
A luxury Japanese restaurant will offer 3,000-yuan (US$439) dinners.
