Killer tried three times to take his own life

AN Anhui Province man who strangled his mistress then tried three times to kill himself, police said yesterday.
Officers from Baoshan District found him after his third attempt, jumping from the top of his building, failed because the door to the roof was locked.
He'd already taken sleeping pills washed down with pesticide and had tried to hang himself from a curtain rod.
Zhou, 32, was seized at midday last Wednesday, two days after killing Yang, his 37-year-old Jiangxi girlfriend, in a top-floor corridor of their apartment complex in Gaojing Town, Baoshan District, police said.
Zhou told them he had lost his head after an argument with his live-in girlfriend and choked her to death.
Police had been tipped off by one of Yang's colleagues, who were worried because she didn't show up for work at a hair salon last Wednesday.
