Lake to be opened to Suzhou Creek boats
BOATS will be able to sail directly from Suzhou Creek to Yinchu Lake in Putuo District after a reconstruction plan for Changfeng Park is completed.
The reconstruction, with a budget of 18 million yuan (US$2.6 million), will be completed next May when a dragon boat competition in the lake will celebrate the opening of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, Xinmin Evening News reported today.
The Changfeng Park reconstruction includes a 40,000-square meter expansion. The whole project is expected to take 10 months and the park's Tiebi (Iron Arm) Hill is being landscaped as well.
Yinchu (Silver Hoe) Lake and Tiebi Hill were named after a poem by the late Chairman Mao. Changfeng Park covers 364,000 square meters and will celebrate its 50th anniversary in October.
