Leading nurse practitioner gives training in private hospitals

THE number of private hospitals is almost the same as public hospital, as they have become an important part of local health system and supplement to public hospitals.

By the end of last year, there were 178 public hospitals and 171 private ones. Beds from private hospitals have accounted for over 13 percent of total beds in the city.

“Improving our professional capability and enhancing the service are key for private hospitals’ development,” said Dr Pan Yuntang, vice president of Shanghai Hongkang Hospital, a private hospital in Putuo District.

To learn from public hospitals, Hongkang invited Xuan Feiyan, a head nurse at Dahua Hospital and the leading teacher at Xuhui District Intravenous Injection Training Center to provide skill training to its nurses.

Xuan was honored as a national labor model and the city’s excellent nurse for her leading skills in IV injection, good attitude and innovation during the procedure.

“We were found some problems through the training given by Xuan and will introduce an information technology management system for IV injection to ensure patient safety and streamline our service,” said Yao Jianwen, head nurse of Hongkang’s IV injection room.
