Library first

SHANGHAI Library yesterday launched an audio platform to help visually impaired readers, the first library database designed for the disabled on the Chinese mainland. It is primarily an online service allowing users to listen to a "talking book," and offers 1,000 hours of reading from 620 books, with plans to expand this to 2,000 hours by early next year. This is part of city efforts to improve services for the physically challenged.
