Life sentence for embezzler

CHEN Jie, an accomplice of Fan Xian, a titan in the domestic chemical industry, got a life sentence yesterday from Shanghai No. 1 Intermediate People's Court.
Chen, general manager of Senling Real Estate Co Ltd, a subordinate of Shanghai Soap (Group) Co, embezzled more than 10 million yuan (US$1.46 million) in public assets from 2002 to 2005 together with Fan, the court said. Fan was sentenced to life imprisonment in February.
