Local college receives 1 million yuan donation to encourage business startups

East China University of Science and Technology received one million yuan of donation from its alumnus, who is now an entrepreneur, to encourage business startups among its students.
The donation will be awarded to top student entrepreneurs in the school during the following five years.
Sun Shaorui, 30, who graduated from the school in 2007 and is now founder and chief executive officer of anlaiye.com.cn, an online to offline commercial service company targeting college students, has just successfully raised nearly 150 million yuan from investors for his website.
He said starting up private business was not easy and he wished to help the younger students in his Alma Mater to realize their business ambitions with the donated money.
Sun also invited dozens of successful startups into the school to share their experiences in the past three days to students interested in running their own businesses.
