Locals encouraged to donate books to needy children

JIANG Shengnan, author of the popular online novel "The Legend of Miyue" which has been adapted into a historical epic attended a charity program of book donations this afternoon at the Shanghai Gongyi Xintiandi.
The project initiated by the Easy Reader of NetEase has collected more than 10,000 books in city. These books will be donated to 20 or so Hope Schools in the villages of western China.
Officials from Easy Reader said that it will become a long-term project in which everyone can be involved. Individuals and enterprises are encouraged to donate their old books to needy children. Donators can get free access to hundreds of new digital books on Easy Reader.
"The integration of Internet and charity is a good and innovative attempt today," said Jiang. "It will also attract a lot more authors to participate."
