Love story movie of Shanghai teacher and Taiwanese wife being produced
A movie is being produced in Shanghai based on the love story of a teacher at Shanghai Ocean University and his wife from Taiwan and it is expected to be shown in cinemas in May next year.
The movie was named as “Lovers and Crabs” as it happened in a hairy crab cultivation cooperation program, in which experts from Shanghai Ocean University helped Taiwan's Miaolin Town successfully cultivated hairy crab, which was impossible before due to its hot weather.
Since 2012, Miaoli has established 103 hairy crab farms, covering 45 hectare and bringing nearly NT300 million dollars of production value to the town in the past three years.
Zhao Ming, was a junior student at Shanghai Ocean University in 2009 when he visited Taiwan under the cooperation program and fell in love with Gao Yuxin, then freshmen of Taiwan Ocean University. They married two years later.
Qu Guoliang, deputy director of Shanghai's Taiwan affairs office, called the movie a presentation of active civic exchanges cross the strait.
More than 600,000 men and women from Chinese mainland and Taiwan have tied knots in the past 30 years, Qu said.
More than five million people from Taiwan last year came to Chinese mainland for tourism and business, while over four hundred traveled in reverse, bringing US$190 billion of trade volume, or 38 percent of the total import and export volume of Taiwan, he added.
By now, more than 10,000 companies have been registered in Shanghai by Taiwan entrepreneurs, he said.
