Low cloud clearance for China Eastern

CHINA Eastern Airlines is waiting for a certificate from the Civil Aviation Administration of China that will allow its pilots to operate flights in low cloud weathers.

The nod from the aviation authorities will cut the number of flight delays, said Dai Weidong, assistant general manager of the operation and control center with the airlines.

The flight service provider Veryzhun said Wednesdays have the lowest punctuality rate because most business trips are arranged for the day and flight takeoffs and landings are the most severe.

The punctuality rate is expected to be only 73 percent on Wednesdays this month. Severe flight delays are also heavy on Fridays with an on-time rate of just 78 percent.

Passengers are advised to fly on Saturdays, when the on-time rate is around 85 percent, the highest in the week.

There are fewer flight delays also on Tuesdays and Sundays with punctuality rates of 83 percent, Veryzhun said.
