Man arrested for trying to loot local jewelry store, injuring security guard

A suspect who allegedly had tried to loot a jewelry store in Shanghai on Thursday morning was arrested, police said.

The alleged robbery took place at the Laofengxiang Jewelry store, in Jiading District, at about 8am.

The 37-year-old man, surnamed Ye, from Sichuan Province, was said to have injured a security guard at the store with a knife and then fled.

The victim was hurt in the face and had been sent to hospital. He's not critically injured.

The suspect, surnamed Ye, was nabbed by police five minutes after the incident nearby.
