A MAN has been arrested for stealing 480,000 yuan ($US78,229) that his neighbor had buried for safekeeping, according to the People's Procuratorate of Chongming County, which approved the arrest.
The neighbor, a farmer, buried the money on his own land, but the man, who lived nearby, saw what he was doing. The man dug up the money and kept it.
After a week, the farmer discovered his money had been stolen and he suspected his neighbor. The farmer called police after private negotiations failed, officials said.
