Man charged with transporting fake notes

A VEGETABLE seller has been charged with transporting fake notes with a face value of 600,000 yuan (US$87,895).

Minhang District People's Procuratorate Office said Lu Shanqing, 34, should be charged with a criminal offense because he knew he was transporting illegal notes, today's Shanghai Morning Post reported.

Lu, from north China's Henan Province, was caught on December 12 last year by police at a toll station on Jiasong Road while carrying the fake cash for his friend Shao Hai, the report said.

Shao offered 500 yuan for Lu for transporting the fake money. Police seized 6,025 100-yuan notes from Lu's truck.

It was not revealed whether Shao had been caught.
