Man cons 1.28m yuan by posing as mayoral aide
A MAN has been jailed for 13 years after defrauding 1.28 million yuan (US$187,504) from 12 victims by posing as the secretary to Shanghai's Mayor Han Zheng.
Li Liming, 37, was also fined 100,000 yuan by Xuhui District People's Court, today's China Youth Daily reported.
Li claimed to be the secretary to Shanghai's mayor and promised to seek benefits for others. In return he took 1.28 million yuan from 12 victims, including his own uncle, between 2006 and 2009, the court said.
Li was jailed for four months six years ago for credit card fraud.
