A woman was attacked by her ex-husband yesterday morning after a fierce quarrel about their son's study. The woman, in her 30s, was found lying in blood at the doorstep of her apartment in suburban Songjiang District.
Witnesses said that after the attack, the man jumped into a river in a suicide attempt but the river was too shallow. The man then climbed onto the bank and stabbed himself twice before jumping into the water again. But he was rescued by arriving police. Both the man and woman are being treated at a hospital, police said.
