Man goes to extreme to get out of work
A man was given a warning by police following an incident in which he falsely claimed he was stabbed after shouting to alert pickpocket victims.
The man, not identified by police, made up the story as an excuse to ask for a leave from work, police said yesterday.
After three days of investigation, police found that there was no theft or intentional stabbing. The man had claimed the incident happened near the entrance to the Zhangjiang High-Tech Park Station of Metro Line 2 around 7am last Thursday. The man made up the story to ask for a leave from his company after he was somehow stabbed accidentally, Lu told Shanghai Daily yesterday.
Lu said the man's company bought the story and his managers visited him at home to praise his heroism.
The man was warned by the police but did not receive punishment, police said.
