Man held for violence at security

METRO police have detained a man who was not cooperative during a security check and hit a female security staff member.

Zhang Peilin was on duty at the People's Square station on Sunday at 2pm when the man refused to let his luggage go through an X-ray scanner. After Zhang insisted, the man suddenly gave Zhang a slap in the face, police said.

Police later caught him and said he will be detained for five days. Zhang, 23, had a one-day rest yesterday.

In related news, city delivery companies will be asked to sign agreements with Metro authorities ensuring that goods go through X-ray checks before being allowed onto trains.

Metro Police said the measure is to prevent people handing goods to colleagues inside the stations and bypassing the security machines.
