Man killed by subway train in suicide last night

A man jumped off the platform of the Metro Line 2 station in Lujiazui, Pudong last night and was instantly killed by an approaching train, police said.
Police said the 32-year-old man surnamed Lin made the fatal leap around 8pm as when the train was pulling into the station.
The driver applied the brakes immediately but the train still hit the man with great momentum. Rescuers tried to give him first-aid, but Li soon died of his head wound.
The incident delayed the operation of Metro Line 2 between the Century Avenue Station and People's Square Station for a while.
Police are now investigating the cause of Lin's death.
