Man put band-aids in food to claim damages
A MAN has been detained for allegedly scamming local restaurants and hotels by putting Band-Aids into the food and demanding compensation, police said today.
The suspect, surnamed Wu, was suspected of running a scam at a restaurant in downtown Changning District on October 10, police said.
The restaurant served the man one day before and he allegedly demanded nearly 1,000 yuan (US$ 160) in so-called compensation, officers said.
The man was seized after the restaurant staff alerted the police.
Police said they were still investigating the case as Wu has been conducting the scam at several other restaurants and hotels, including three- to five-star hotels' buffets.
