Man spreads 'abduction' rumor after wife leaves with baby in quarrel

SHANGHAI police dismissed a rumor circulating on the popular Weibo microblogging site that a baby girl was abducted this morning in Baoshan District.
Police said the girl was taken away by her mother who had a dispute with her father and warned the blogger, believed to be the girl's father, "not to distort the fact."
A Weibo post said the girl was missing this morning and was seen carried away by a woman in black. The microblog was retweeted more than 50,000 times.
Police said the woman, the girl's mother, had notified the man about bringing the girl with her.
In his latest blog, the man said he was in a police station and had apologized for causing the trouble. But he insisted that "the girl has not been found."
