Man stabbed in suspected illegal cab business dispute
A car driver was injured by a motorcyclist armed with a knife at Malu Station on Metro Line 11 yesterday morning over a suspected conflict concerning unlicensed cab businesses.
The police soon arrived and took control of the scene very quickly, taking away those involved in the fight. According to the police, the car driver surnamed Han received three knife wounds to his back but they were not life threatening.
Witnesses said that the fight happened at about 10am, and involved seven or eight men on each side. Both sides were armed with knives but the knife carried by the motorcyclist surnamed Liu was much longer, which gave his side an advantage in the fight.
According to a witness, Han's elder brother was also in the fight. After Han was injured by Liu, his brother beat Liu down.
The director of Malu Station surnamed Liu said that a man alerted Metro staff when the fight broke out and they immediately called the police and emergency center.
The police said further details were being investigated, as some witnesses guessed that since both Han brothers and Liu were in the unlicensed cab business, the dispute may have been over business.
