Man stands trial for stabbing ex-girlfriend

MURDER trial of a man accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend, causing her to have severe wounds, to vent his anger over breakup has opened in the Jiading District People’s Court.

It occurred in a local residential complex around 9pm on August 23, 2016, when the victim, identified as A Lin, was coming home with her roommate and found her ex-boyfriend surnamed Liu was waiting for her, prosecutors said.

They quarreled and Liu took out a fruit knife, stabbing her until she collapsed to the ground and stayed motionless. Her roommate called ambulance and she was sent to hospital immediately, prosecutors said.

Medical checks showed she had severe knife wounds on her lungs and was dying due to massive blood loss. She left danger after days of emergency treatment.

Liu handed himself over to police after he calmed down near the midnight. During interrogation, he said A Lin ended five-year relationship with him in July, which irritated him.

He said he tried to commit suicide by jumping into Wusong River. But he failed. And thus he walked to the police station to admit guilty.

Court hasn’t made a verdict.
