THE man who hit 13 people, causing one death and 12 injuries in a residential community, has paid more than 1.4 million yuan (US$205,000) in compensation to the victims with the help of his family. The man surnamed Tang, 37, of Shanghai, has been charged with manslaughter by Pudong New Area prosecutors.
On September 5, Tang, took the gas as brake by mistake and hit the 13 people. Because the accident didn't happen on the "road," Tang was charged with manslaughter instead of causing traffic accidents, prosecutors said.
