Man who stabbed 5 guards gets prison

A delivery man who stabbed five security guards in a downtown office building in May was sentenced to two and a half years in prison, a district court said yesterday.

Wang Jun, a 38-year-old migrant worker, said in court that he was tired of being asked by security guards at the Platinum Tower in the Xintiandi area to let them hold his identity card before being allowed into the building, said the Huangpu District court. The delivery man told the court this happened whenever he went to the building, and that this time he refused, creating a conflict.

"I wanted to change their abusing power," Wang said. "I put a knife in my bag and I was thinking if they stopped me again, I'd stab them."

He admitted that on May 12, he broke into the building and stabbed five guards in his path. He later called the police himself. None of the five was badly injured.
