May Day tour sales start soon

TOUR packages for the May Day holiday will go on sale next week at the Shanghai Tour Bus Center, today's Oriental Monring Post reported.

On Friday, the center will unveil new routes, with a focus on flower appreciation and night sightseeing, center officials said.

One of the new routes will be a night trip to Zhouzhuang, the famous watertown in Shanghai's neighoring Jiangsu Province, officials said.

Visitors can enjoy a bargain rate of 100 yuan (US$14.6) for the tour between April 10 and 19 - after that the price returns to the normal 130 yuan.

Short trips priced around 100 yuan have been in demand during the Qingming Festival with flower shows and water towns the most popular, center officials said.

The center handled 19,417 tourists over the three-day holiday, 12 percent more than the previous year.

The top five destinations for one-day trips were the peach village in Nanhui District, Zhouzhuang, the Shanghai Flower Port in Nanhui District, Wuzheng and Zhujiajiao.
