Medical team accompanies student to college entrance exam
A 19-year-old man took today's college entrance examination with the escort of a doctor and a nurse from Shanghai No. 3 People's Hospital.
He is one of 55,000 students in the city taking the exams.
His lung collapsed on Monday and he was rushed to the hospital for treatment immediately.
Doctors said fatigue and stress from preparing for the examination contributed to his condition.
"He will be hospitalized for five to 10 days," said Hu Yuan, a hospital official. "Concerning his condition, we sent a medical team to be with him during the exams. He was a little bit tired but he should be OK."
This year's exams will feature the strictest measures ever to prevent cheating and fraud. All local test centers will be equipped with surveillance cameras and covered by radio monitoring devices for the first time to prevent high-tech cheating.
