Men detained for slapping Metro station employee

Two men were handed 5-day detentions and given a 200-yuan (US$32.21) fine for slapping a Metro station employee after their request to use the elevator was denied.

The two wanted to take the elevator at Line 2’s Songhong Road Station on Monday. The elevator requires a station employee to operate since it leads to the station’s office area.

A female employee denied their request because they had no wheelchair or large suitcases. She then suggested they use the stairs.

One of the men got angry and slapped the woman in the face. The other man also became violent but it was unclear what he did. Security arrived soon afterward and the police were called. The woman sustained a minor injury.
