Men detained over mirror theft
TWO men have been detained for allegedly stealing wing mirrors from luxury cars in a residential complex in the Pudong New Area.
Police said most of the mirrors came from BMWs and the case was still under investigation. The thefts were reported on April 19 when the mirrors from 19 BMW cars went missing in the residential area of Lane 77 on Fangdian Road. The suspects, surnamed Pan and Guo, appeared to favor BMW parts as other luxury cars such as Mercedes-Benz and Lexus parked in the same underground garage were untouched, residents said. On Tuesday night, the suspects were detained in a temporary residence in Jiuting Town in Songjiang District. Twenty-nine wing mirrors were found at the address, police claim. Pan and Guo confessed to the crime, said officers.
