Metro rush-hour fray distorted as robbery
TWO men fought in a crowded subway train this morning, Metro police told the media, dismissing an online rumor that it was a robbery.
The incident happened at about 8:15am on a train of Metro Line 1 when two men struggled to get off a crowded carriage at Changshu Road Station. They started a quarrel which soon turned into a fistfight, police said.
One man was hit in the nose and was bleeding, police said. However, someone posted a microblog saying one man used a knife in a robbery on Metro Line 1 during the morning rush hour and the rumor soon spread via the Internet.
Police have taken the two men for questioning.
