Metro security checkpoints will be equipped with recorders
Security check employees in Shanghai’s Metro stations will be equipped with recorders in order to record evidence during altercations with commuters.
Complaints have been filed over the manners and work methods of some Metro security checkpoint employees. In other cases, commuters have refused to cooperate in security checks and verbally abused staffers. However, lack of evidence makes it difficult to deal with such conflicts.
Metro police said today that 600 security checkpoints in the city’s 333 subway stations would be equipped with a recorder. The recorders will be required to be on all day. All recordings will later be saved in a database to serve as evidence if needed.
Meanwhile, the Metro’s security team opened a Weibo account and a hotline, 63189188-98110, to handle complaints and suggestions.
