Metro staff cleared of assault on woman
LOCAL Metro staff have been cleared of beating up an elderly woman collecting newspapers during yesterday's morning rush hour.
Rumors of an attack on the newspaper recycler at Line 4's Luban Road Station spread online, with web users describing it as "brutal." It was claimed guards punched and kicked the woman for holding up passenger flow at the station as she lay on the ground crying. But Metro police said surveillance camera footage showed that the security guards did not beat the woman. The woman later left, said police. The woman has collected newspapers discarded by commuters and sold them to waste recovery for years, said station officials.
