Metro station shops closing down
SHOPS in the city's Metro stations are being closed as part of the Metro authority's clean-up campaign for next year's World Expo.
Shops at the Nanjing Road E., Nanjing Road W. and Lujiazui stations will be closed by the end of this month, according to jfdaily.com.
Bookshops and bakeries will not be affected. And shops outside the stations will operate normally.
Shop owners have been cooperating with the program, the Metro authority said. The shops, usually rented at between 3,000 yuan and 5,000 yuan a month, enjoy a good turnover.
The Metro authority said is planning how to use the space after the shops have gone.
Xujiahui, Shanghai Indoor Stadium and Huangpi Road S. stations have already closed their shops.
