A TOTAL of 43 migrant workers were awarded with "city-level excellent migrant worker" status yesterday, making them able to apply for Shanghai permanent residence, or hukou, the Shanghai Human Resources and Social Security Bureau said yesterday.
Another 143 who were deemed "outstanding migrant workers" will get temporary residence permits. Most of the awarded migrant workers are technical workers, some even with invention patents.
