'Military driver' in police assault
THE driver of a "military" car attacked a police officer rebuking him during yesterday's rush hour for jumping a red light, web users claimed.
Several police were involved in a struggle before the driver was finally taken into custody. The incident took place about 8am in the busy interaction of Zhongxing Road and Gonghexin Road, witnesses said. A black Audi A6 sedan with military license plate "NanR30223" was stopped by a traffic officer for allegedly running a red light. The officer was speaking to the driver when he suddenly leapt out of the car and attacked the officer, claimed a witness. Other officers rushed to their colleague's aid and restrained the driver. Zhabei District police confirmed the case but gave no more details. The driver would probably be handed over to the military, said a police officer.
