Minhang steps up Huangpu patrols
THE marine safety administration of Minhang District is tightening water management ahead of the upcoming second China International Import Expo.
Boats carrying hazardous objects or which don’t have the automatic identification system are banned from entering the Huangpu River.
Since October 11, the city’s marine safety administration has been inspecting boats that have failed to install or properly use the AIS. Ma Junhao of the Minhang administration said the water area in the district is the south gate of the Huangpu and ensuring safety in the area is vital to keep the whole river safe during the expo.
The administration has deployed three inspection boats to patrol in the area and officers will intercept and board boats failing to pass inspections.
By October 20, 120 boats not qualified to enter the Huangpu had been persuaded to leave the river, the administration revealed.
