Moped rider swoops on pedestrians to rob cell phones

A moped-riding robber who snatched cell phones from pedestrians in Shanghai streets has been arrested, police said today.
The suspect surnamed Xie has confessed his crime and returned one of the two stolen phones, police said on their official Weibo microblog.
Xie robbed two women of their smart phones in downtown Jing'an and Huangpu districts on Wednesday night. After 21 hours of search, Xie was caught by police yesterday.
Xie, a drug addict, planned to sell the cell phones to buy drugs, the police said.
