Mourners Gather To Honor Dead
HUNDREDS of residents yesterday went to 728 Jiaozhou Road to mourn the dead from the November 15 high-rise blaze which killed 58 and injured 71.
Yesterday was the 14th day since the city's tragedy. In Chinese tradition, to show their respect and let their departed loved ones rest in peace, people mourn the deceased every seven days for seven times since the victims lost their lives.
Families of the victims came back to the burnt building in downtown Jing'an District to burn paper offerings and prepare meals for the dead, according to tradition. Hundreds of bouquets of white and yellow chrysanthemums were laid at the walls which have been built around the damaged building as a safety precaution.
