Nation's first comprehensive national-level biology lab opens in Shanghai

The National Center for Protein Science, China's first comprehensive national-level research facility in the field of biological sciences, has passed testing and started pilot operation in Shanghai.
It will officially open to all scientific research institutes at the end of this year, the center's officials said today.
The center with world-class capabilities in protein preparation, structural analysis, database establishment and computerized processing will be a public platform for protein research, and boost aims to boost China's capability on biological study, disease research and new drug development.
Proteins are amino acid molecules in the body that perform a vast array of basic biological functions. They are the target of the most biological technology development and the target of over 90 percent of medicines.
