New park along Huangpu River to open tomorrow at Pudong's Qiantan Area

A new park along the Huangpu River will open to public free from January 1 at the Qiantan Area in Pudong.

The Qiantan Leisure Park, covering 266,400 square meters, includes about 1,800 meters long riverside promenades and gardens for residents to jog and relax, according to the Lujiazui Group who takes charge of the development of the park and the Qiantan area.

It has over 60 species of trees and flowers. As a highlight, a section of promenade along the river was paved with old red bricks dismantled from former grain warehouses in the area.

It is one of the three major riverside parks in the Qiantan area. The Shanghai International Friendly Cities Park, where sculptures presented as gifts from its sister cities around the world will be displayed, will open around the Spring Festival that falls on February 8.

A sports park where visitors can play all kinds of ball games will be completed by the end of 2016, according to the group.
