New vice mayor appointed

Wu Qing, 52, former director of Hongkou District and chairman of the Shanghai Stock Exchange, was appointed as vice mayor of Shanghai yesterday at a meeting of the Standing Committee of Shanghai People鈥檚 Congress.
Wu, born in 1965, served as head of department and office director at China Securities Regulatory Commission and was named as director of Shanghai鈥檚 Hongkou District and secretary of the district Party committee. He was later appointed as chairman and Party committee secretary of the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
